Welcome to this little corner of the web where art meets the natural world.

I’m Patricia Gherase, a botanical and natural history illustrator captivated by the stories nature tells in its quietest moments—the curl of a fern frond, the shimmer of a bird’s feather, the delicate veins of a wildflower petal. This blog is a place to document those stories and share the joy of observing and illustrating the world around us.

Art and nature have always been intertwined. Through my work, I aim to honour that connection by highlighting the small details that might otherwise go unnoticed. On this blog, I’ll share:

The inspiration behind my illustrations and the creative process that brings them to life.
Stories about plants, wildlife, and landscapes that spark curiosity and wonder.
Reflections on the act of slowing down and observing the natural world more deeply.
Adventures from my travels to gardens, forests, and wild spaces.
As I start this journey, I’m reminded of something I learned early in my career: that nature rewards patience. Whether it’s the hours spent waiting for a bird to land in just the right spot or the slow layering of ink and watercolour to capture a plant’s intricate texture, the beauty lies in taking time to truly see.

Thank you for being here. I hope this space inspires you to look more closely at the world around you and perhaps even pick up a pencil or brush to capture what you see.

Warmly,
Patricia

P.S. What inspires you most about nature? I’d love to hear your thoughts—share them in the comments!
