Welcome to this quiet corner of the web, where art and nature intertwine.
I’m Patricia Gherase, a botanical and natural history illustrator drawn to the quiet stories nature tells: the curl of a fern frond, the shimmer of a bird’s feather, the fine tracery of veins in a wildflower petal. This blog is a place to share those stories, and to celebrate the joy of observing and illustrating the living world around us.

Art and nature have always been closely linked, each enriching the other. Through my work, I try to honour that connection by noticing and recording the small details that often go unseen. Here, I’ll be sharing:
- The inspiration behind my illustrations and how each piece comes to life
- Stories about plants, wildlife, and landscapes that spark wonder
- Reflections on the quiet practice of observation
- Moments from my travels through gardens, forests, and wild spaces
As I begin this journey, I’m reminded of something I learned early on: nature rewards patience. Whether it’s waiting for a bird to land in just the right place or slowly layering ink and watercolour to capture a leaf’s texture, the magic often lies in simply taking the time to look, really look.
Thank you for being here. I hope this space invites you to pause, to notice more deeply, and perhaps even to pick up a pencil or brush of your own.
Warmly,
Patricia
